Matthew "Matt" Edward Wilson

23 September, 19804 April, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and tragic death of Matt on April 4, 2021 as the result of a hit and run, at the age of 40. Beloved and cherished son of Colleen (John) Franz and Robert Wilson, and deeply loved stepson of John Franz. Loving brother of Kirk (Melanie) Wilson. Dearly loved uncle of Hannah and Zachary. Predeceased by his grandparents Evelyn and William Fitzgibbon and Charles “Ted” and Gertrude Wilson. Dear nephew of Larry (the late Johanne) Wilson, Donald (Marlyn) Wilson and Victoria (Rick) Furniss. He’ll be lovingly remembered by the Franz family, his cousins and many friends.

Matt attended Brock University, studying Photography and Computer Science, and Niagara College, studying Photography and Business Administration. He was a professional photographer who excelled at Still photography and covering live, large scaled events. He had a gift and passion for music, playing guitar and piano, writing songs and singing. He enjoyed playing sports like hockey, golf, soccer, and lacrosse. Matt was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Dear Colleen, Kirk, Bob and families,
We are so very saddened to hear of Matt’s passing. We have great memories of that always smiling, little blonde haired boy across the street. He and Corey spent a lot of fun times together in Virgil. He is and always will be a part of all the memories we cherish from our years as your neighbour. Sending hugs and strength to get you all through this time. xo

My heartfelt condolences to Bob and his family.
I never had the opportunity to meet Matthew in the years I have known Bob, but I do know that Bob was one proud loving father that always spoke foundly of Matthew and will be deeply missed. Taken way too soon. May you rest in peace. Praying for strength for Bob and his family at this difficult time.
Lots of love
Krissy xo

Dear Matt - As I sit here typing a message, I feel griefstricken - you are gone to soon. You were always a very caring and considerate boy - Always a smile, never a frown even when you were down. The world would be a better place if we all had the compassion that you did. Heaven has gained an angel and I know you will be at peace. Farewell Matt-We will never forget you. Sue and Mario.
