Owen was the son of Alan and Margaret and the brother and best friend of Glenn.
Our Owen was one of a kind. He was loving, smart, creative, and funny. Owen was wonderful company and was always very comfortable engaging anyone in conversation. If you had a conversation with Owen, you remembered it because he somehow made it special.
Owen’s dry sense of humour and perfectly timed one-liners were part of what made him so memorable. He could bring levity without seeking attention, offering laughter as a quiet gift, and leaving behind stories that will be repeated with affection.
From a young age he loved learning, from “diggies” to planes, world history, geography, maps, and the military. As a cadet in Niagara Falls, he was fortunate to have it come full circle on their trip to London, Belgium, and Paris. He participated in the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate, attended the Vimy Ridge Memorial, and got to experience a corner cafe in Paris.
Owen grew up in a soccer family. His introduction to the game was through his brother Glenn. This was highlighted by a trip to Scotland together, where they experienced living like a footballer. Owen brought his knowledge of soccer to his own playing time. His goal celebrations are still being talked about. Owen moved on to football, playing both minor and high school.
Owen is fondly remembered by his childhood lifelong best friend Tucker Lynch. They took care of each other making sure their lives were always intertwined, working at the same jobs, shopping, playing football & late-night video gaming to name a few.
Owen was also devoted to his dog Lacey, who happily greeted him every day after work and whose companionship held a special place in his heart.
One of Owen’s passions was cooking for family and friends. He was our chef. Owen honed his skills at Counterpart Brewery in Niagara Falls, where his care for others and pride in his craft was evident in the food he prepared. He always enjoyed karaoke nights, staff events and get togethers with his work friends. At home, some of the most meaningful moments were found in the simple joy of cooking alongside his mom—his trusted sous chef—showcasing his “mad knife skills”, sharing time, laughter, and good food usually with a side of hot sauce.
Owen will be sadly missed by his grandparents Colin and Caroline Devine, his aunts and uncles Barbara Boland (Brian), Andrew Calder (Jennifer), Monica Devine, cousins and family in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Owen was predeceased by his grandparents James “Jim” and Margaret “Baboo” Calder, and his great-grandparents Glenn and Luella Devine.
The family will receive friends at Patterson Funeral Home , 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, ON on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of Owen will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 11 a.m.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Humane Society of Niagara would be appreciated by the family. Memories, photos, and condolences may be made at www.pattersonfuneralhome.com
