Patricia Karagias

KARAGIAS, Patricia - It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Karagias announces her peaceful passing on April 10, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Thana, Greece, to the late Chris and Maria Kyriakopoulos, Patricia immigrated to Canada in 1953 through Halifax to join her brothers in Tillsonburg. In 1964, she married George Karagias and moved to New York City, where she worked as a hairdresser while raising their three sons, all born during their time there. In 1973, the family returned to Tillsonburg, where Patricia and George established and operated the Sea Siren at the Tillsonburg Town Centre for 35 successful years. She took great pride in becoming a Canadian citizen, with her citizenship certificate proudly displayed in her home. Patricia was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in London, where she found joy and comfort in attending services. After relocating to Niagara Falls in 2020, she continued her commitment to her faith, attending services at Greek Orthodox churches in St. Catharines and Hamilton. She was the beloved wife of George for 56 years until his passing in 2020. Patricia was a loving mother to Michael (Lynne), Theodore (Stathy), and Andrew (Marianne), also a proud YiaYia to Celia (Jake), Brendan, Alexandra (Maverick), Nicholas, and Connor. She will be deeply missed by her sister Wanda Papaioannou (late John).  Patricia was predeceased by her sister Eleni Foutris (late Paraskevas) in Greece, and her brothers Nick (late Georgia), Jim (late Toula) and Louis (Effie). She will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 16th at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., London, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada, through Patterson Funeral Home.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Eventide Home in Niagara Falls for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Patricia during her five years there.
