March 13, 1956 – July 25, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Sohaila (Roohieh) Dehghan on July 25, 2026, at the age of 70.
Sohaila, as she was known to many, always had a lifelong thirst for spirituality that sustained her through life's joys and challenges. Guided by her convictions in the Bahá'í Faith, she approached life with gratitude, a positive outlook, and a deep appreciation for every opportunity to grow. She always encouraged others to take the trip, seize the opportunity, and experience all that life has to offer.
A wonderful cook, Sohaila could often be found in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Cooking was her love language, and few things brought her greater joy than gathering loved ones around the table. At family gatherings and celebrations, she was often surrounded by the younger generation—laughing with them, learning from them, and delighting in their energy, curiosity, and perspective.
Sohaila will be deeply missed by her husband, Mostafa; her sons, Pedram and Shervin (Lindsey), and her granddaughter, Ramona; her daughters, Shiva (Reid) and Tina (Edwin). She will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends and extended family members.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Tala Houshmand and Tim Woodward, whose devoted care, compassion, and friendship enriched Sohaila's life during her final years. We could not have asked for more devoted family caregivers, and we are endlessly grateful for everything they did for her and for our family. They will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
A funeral service to celebrate Sohaila’s incredible life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, ON L2G 5Z9. For those that are not able to attend the service in person, please join through livestream, on the funeral home website.
A private burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. for close family.
While traditional black is welcome, guests are also invited to wear colours that celebrate Sohaila’s vibrant spirit.
A lunch reception will follow at Delphi Banquet Hall, 4414 Portage Rd., Niagara Falls, ON L2E 6A7, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we invite friends to make donations in Sohaila’s memory to support corticobasal degeneration (CBD) research and care in Canada through the PSP Society of Canada (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/psp-society-of-canada), and Baha’i friends can also choose to donate to the Canadian Bahá'í House of Worship fund in her name.
