Tammy E. McCormick-Ferguson was born on July 19, 1966, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and passed away peacefully at home with her beloved daughter, Payton, by her side on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the age of 60.
A lifelong resident of Niagara, Ontario, Tammy will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
Tammy was a kind, compassionate, and strong woman who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She had a generous heart and believed in helping wherever she could. Whether through her work, her friendships, or within her own family, Tammy gave so much of herself to the people around her.
Tammy had a meaningful career in early childhood development and community service. As Executive Director of ECCDC (Early Childhood Community Development Center), she worked to support children and families and was instrumental in helping establish daycare in Yellowknife. She also advocated for grandparents raising their grandchildren and volunteered with the Summer Olympics for people with disabilities. While these accomplishments were an important part of her life, they were only one piece of the person she was.
Tammy’s greatest joys came from the people she loved. She loved listening to music, spending time with family and friends, laughing, talking, and enjoying the moments they shared together. She valued the simple pleasures of life and the time she could spend surrounded by the people who made her happiest. She was a loyal friend, a loving family member, and someone whose presence brought warmth and laughter into the lives of those around her.
Those who knew Tammy will remember her for her caring nature, her strength, her sense of humour, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind not only the difference she made through her work, but also countless memories, moments of laughter, and a lifetime of love that will remain with her family and friends forever.
Tammy leaves behind her parents Dorcas and Donald McCormick, daughter Payton, brother Kevin McCormick, niece Chloe McCormick and mother-in-law Gwen Ferguson. She will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends. Predeceased by grandmother Irene Savoie, father-in-law; Larry Ferguson, and Payton's father; Mark Ferguson.
