Kim and Family,
I am at a lost for words.  My prayers are with you all!  Jack and your mom was my friends and I loved them both.  We walked through some really rough times together and at times they held me up and showed me the strength to go forward.  I will miss them both forever!  Kim, please call me if you need to talk.

Kim/Jim & Family,
I worked with Jack for many years before his retirement as well as sharing in the joys and sorrows as a friend to he and Diana.  Jack was one in a million.  His love and commitment to family and friends was paramount in his life.  I will forever be grateful for his friendship and guidance throughout the years.  The three musketeers are together again.  God bless all.

To the Family:  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  Jack was a wonderful man, with great integrity.  He was an easy person to talk to, as well as look up to.  He will be terribly missed.

Dear Slocum Family,

 I’ve worked with Jack, off  ‘n’ on over the years, since he first started at EB. We had a terrific working relationship, because his support was not only of excellent quality, but was with an attitude t’match. Gonna definitely miss ‘im! Understanding the hole left behind, regardless the inevitability or forewarning, pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable…the grief! So truly sorry to hear about your dad...grandfather...brother. At least now he’s at peace with our Lord and Diana… definitely keepin’ y’all in my prayers!

 When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m’dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.

SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)

Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!

We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!

So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!
