

He was born on April 11, 1944 in Beacon Falls, NY, the son of Jonathan and George-Anne Jackson Slocum.
He was the widower of Diana G. Burgess Slocum.
Mr. Slocum graduated from Taft College and served in the US Navy from 1964-1984, retiring as a Master Chief. Following his Navy career, he was employed as an engineer at Electric Boat. He enjoyed fishing, coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons David Jackson Slocum of Lakeland, FL and James C. Butler of Salem; his daughter Kimberly Winkler of Niantic; his brother James Jackson Slocum of Dousman, WI; his sister Julie Slocum Dahlgren of Ketchum, ID; and his grandchildren Amy Butler, Justin, Dillon and Blake Winkler, Stephen Wilson and Bradley Slocum. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Lisa Butler.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 17th from 6-8pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic. Burial will be private.
