Joseph H. "Rick" Briggs

He was born on January 21, 1940, in New London, the son of Charles H. Briggs, Jr., and Margaret Boordsen Briggs who predeceased him.

Joseph held a Master's Degree from Mercy College. He was formerly employed as a Collectibles Manager at Fifth Ave. Collectibles and as a Customer Service Representative at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Joseph is survived by his sister Peggy Chiappone of East Lyme; nieces and nephews: Laura (Gary) Brackett, Nicole, Ashley and Kayla; Charles (Khai) Chiappone, Tyler, Kyle, Kendall, Juliana and Jaden; Harry Jr. (Melissa) Chiappone, Ciana and Mia. He is also survived by many first, second, and third cousins.

He was predeceased by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express our thanks to all of the staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on the 5.4 floor, especially Dr. Tim and Nurse Nicky, and Hospice Hartford HealthCare for their compassionate care to Rick.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd at 11am at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 600 Jefferson Ave., New London. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick's memory to: Hospice HealthCare, Norwich, CT or Alzheimer's Association - Connecticut Chapter.
