He was born to the late Alphonse and Charlotte Zucks on December 1st, 1940 in White Plains, NY. He had one brother, Stephen M. Zucks who passed away in 2001.
He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY and attended Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT where he majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics and German. He lived in Hartford, CT and worked as a forensic chemist for the state of Connecticut. His most notable work was published in chemistry journals. He eventually moved to his family home in Niantic, CT where he retired and lived out his years doing the things he loved.
He was an avid sports and Yankees fan and a devout Catholic. He was an active member of Saint Agnes Church in Niantic, CT and a member of the Pine Grove Association in CT. Some of his other favorite pastimes included: growing hot peppers and cherry tomatoes, reading, golfing, walking, crabbing, clamming, dog races, tracking the stock market and watching basketball and baseball. He enjoyed a quiet life and was a brilliant, humble and generous man of deep faith.
He is survived by his longtime, dear and closet friend John McKiernan; his sister-in-law and wife of the late Stephen M. Zucks, Joan K. Zucks; his nieces and nephew, Stephanie M. Ziegler (Jon) of PA, Kimberly A. Allan (Brian) of VA, Tiffany L. Rhodes (Nolan) of NH, Justin M. Zucks of PA and Courteney E. Zucks of VA, as well as 8 great nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.

A viewing will be held at 9am on Saturday, November 24th at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Service in New London, CT. A funeral mass will follow at 10am at Saint Agnes Church in Niantic, CT. Following the funeral mass, Pete will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Niantic, CT. All are welcome.
