You always told jokes that I didn’t always appreciate   I am sorry 
I miss you so much

Rich Dufresne was my god-father and 70 year friend to my father, Dick Kerrigan.  While we were not particularly close, he struck me as a kind and hardworking man, someone to be respected for his skills and tenacity which he used to support himself throughout his lifetime.  Also a man clearly very proud of his daughter, Donna.

I see some parallels between our life experiences as I, too, consider myself to possess some of the same qualities he exhibited and I, too, have just one daughter who is the center of my universe.

I can only imagine the pain of that father-daughter bond being torn by an untimely death of one or the other.  

Donna:  You have my sympathy and I don't profess to know or understand your sense of loss but I would imagine the best you can hope for right now is to find a pathway toward the future unassisted by your biggest, lifelong fan: your Dad.  I think that if you were my daughter, I would want you to know that you already know the way and that you are capable of navigating through these troubled waters.  Mostly, I would want you to know that it is your turn to lead the way and  that you should believe in yourself just as much as your father did and does.  You can and you will do this and the wisdom of your father will be part of the map that guides you forward.

Richard, you weren’t just my friend Donna’s father, you became our friend and family . We got to celebrate many joyus occasions together through the years. You never judged us for our shenanigans and laughed along with us. You offered insightful advice based on your experiences while being compassionate and sometimes stern No gathering will be the same without you You will be forever missed I will try to fill some some part of your shoes and be there to support your family Love always

I did not know him personally but one of my best friends is his sister, Rita. In her words he was a wonderful person all around. Please accept my prayers of comfort for all his loved ones.
