

Marcelin ‘Jack’ Caillet went to his reward on February 15, 2018. Jack (92 yrs.) was the loving husband of Mercedes Keller Caillet for 72 years. He was a loving and beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His sons are Kerwin (Diane), Kerry (Chee), Blaine (Karen), Brent (Sharon) [Preceded him in Death], Galen (Monica), and one daughter, Marla Eusea (Byron).
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Syl Sr. and Elise Caillet, and his sister Cecil C. Donnaud, Evelyn C. Leblanc, Elise C. Young, Virginia Caillet, and his only Brother Syl Caillet. He is survived by his loving sisters Pearl C. Baudoin and Velma C. Matis.
He was a devout Catholic and life-long church member. He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran where he proudly served on the U.S.S. Samuel L. Chase. In his early career, he worked in New Orleans for Boh Brothers & Westinghouse. He moved on to be a Superintendent for Circle Construction at Union Carbide. Jack ended his career by lending his expertise to the St. Charles Parish Schools Maintenance Department.
Jack was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He could build a house from the ground up and no repair project was too big or too small to tackle. He was an avid gardener and barbeque master of the family. Jack loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and his great story telling will forever be cherished. His love for music and his harmonica skills were often present at our family gatherings.
His grandchildren are Chad (Jessica), Darren (Vicki), Alisha (Lorie), Ryan (Leslie), Jaime (Helga), Christy Steib (Wayne), Tracy Gisclair (Terrel), Cody (Tiffany), and Chase (Kristin). His step-grands included Tiffany, Lacey Eusea, and Tabitha Grillo.
He is survived by 7 great granddaughters and 7 great grandsons and 5 step great grandsons, ranging in ages from 1yr. to 18 yrs.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Hahnville, La on Monday, February 19, 2018 beginning at 9 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft. Condolences may be expressed at www.HCalexander.com.
