Marcella O. Gonzales

Marcella O. Gonzales, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on April 3, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Westwego, LA, on August 31, 1934 and was a longtime resident of Hahnville, LA and Luling, LA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Gonzales, her parents, Nolan and Grace Oubre, her sister, Beryl Keller (Eric), her brother, Robert Oubre, her great-granddaughter, April Cheramie, and great-grandson, Carter Jones.

She is survived by her five children, Dirk (Connie), Lorel, Kenny (Lisa), and Todd Gonzales (Paula), and Lisa Lanaux (Denny), and her grandchildren, Christine, Craig (Staci), Megan, and Sarah Gonzales, Denis, Christopher (Destini), and Britten Lanaux, Courtney Jones (Andrew), and Alexandra Laux (Johnny).

She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

“Cellie” as she was known, retired as a deputy clerk for the St. Charles Parish Clerk of Court. She was a member of the American Legion Post 131 Ladies Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program of the River Parishes, the Holy Family Busy Bees, and a huge supporter of all Hahnville High School programs. Cellie was a devoted longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church Parish in Hahnville and later a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling. She received the Order of St. Louis Medal in 2008 from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She loved to cook, travel with family and friends, and attend any and all sporting events.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and care partners of Summerhouse Ashton Manor Assisted Living Center, the staff of Compassus Hospice Care, and all of her many wonderful and caring sitters.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Ln. Luling, LA. Visitation will be held from 9AM – 11AM with a funeral Mass to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft, LA.
