“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 (ESV) Norman James “Cut” Hymel was called to Heaven and reunited with his “honey” on January 29, 2015. He was born on September 9, 1928 and was 86 years old. Norman is survived by his sisters, Therese Cambre, Betty Faucheaux, and Nola St. Pe’; four daughters, Norma Carruth (Sammy), Joan Trosclair (Ronnie, Sr.), Cindy Erwin (Jeff), and Allison McDonald (Todd); ten grandchildren, Joelle C. Perret (Matt), Kevin Carruth (Monica), Lauren C. Rayburn (Ryan), Nicole T. Lasserre (Guy), Danielle Trosclair, Ronnie Trosclair, Jr. (Ashley), Blake Trosclair (Melissa), Jill Erwin, Grant Erwin, and Amber McDonald; and eleven great-grandchildren, Scott, Hunter, Kellan, Scarlett, Mason, Reed, Owen, Avery, Conner, Karsen, and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his jitterbug partner of 64 years, Alice Mae Hymel just one short year ago; his parents, Oliday and Elise Hymel; his sisters, Elma Zeringue, Virginia Eliser, Beatrice Hymel, Grace Pierson; and brothers, Harold and Edward “Frog” Hymel. Norman was a selfless, kind man and will be missed dearly. He was a veteran with the United States Army. He loved to garden and grew the best creole tomatoes around. He was very passionate about his LSU Tigers and you could find him listening to and watching his Tigers on any given fall Saturday night. Norman loved music from the era of the big band and Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood” held a special place in his heart. Norman enjoyed the company of his girls, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and spent every weekend night over the past year with “the babies,” carrying on Alice Mae’s dollar bill tradition and spoiling everyone with chocolate. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Norco on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a mass immediately to follow. Entombment will follow at the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. Masses in honor of Norman are welcome. Condolences available at www.hcalexander.com
