Anthony Jerome Baldwin

Anthony was born January 5, 1971 in Chapel Hill, NC to Linda Baldwin Alston and the late Ernest Lee Pennix. Following his graduation from Orange High School, Hillsborough, NC, Anthony joined the US Navy on July 12, 1989. While on active duty Anthony received numerous meritorious commendations and service medals, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer before his retirement in 2011, with 22 years of service to his country.

While on active duty and following his retirement, Anthony continued his education at the Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Saint Leo University, graduating in 2013 with a Master of Business Administration. Anthony will be especially remembered for his love of Prince, his practical jokes, his tremendous heart and a smile that could warm the icy depths of space.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Anthony Baldwin (Sierra), and grandson Kameron Baldwin, all of Virginia Beach, VA; his mother, Linda Baldwin Alston, Pittsboro, NC; brother, Jamie Alston, Pittsboro, NC; sisters, Clara Pennix, Virginia Beach, VA; Dominique Suitt, Louisburg, NC; and Sofia Alston, Rolesville, NC; godchildren, Arabia Alston-Bannister, Durham, NC; Jerrica Jordan, Jacksonville, FL; Egya Reddy, Scauri, Italy; and Kevin Jones, Rolesville, NC. Also surviving are, his uncle, Larry Baldwin (Veronica), Pittsboro, NC; cousin, Andre Baldwin (Kim), Chesapeake, VA; and former spouse and close friend, Jeri Prophet, Virginia Beach, VA. Anthony was preceded in death by his father Ernest, grandmothers Eva Pennix, and Katherine Baldwin.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM, St. Matthew AME Church, 1629 Bennett Street, Raleigh, NC 27604. The family will greet relatives and friends at 10:30 AM.

Final interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
