He was born on June 2, 1938, in Hagerstown, Maryland to the late Harry Joseph and Virginia Stoneburger Simmers.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane Simmers.
He is survived by his three children Carroll Joseph Jr, Paul Eugene and Wendy Ellen. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
His career in the Navy began in 1955 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1975. During his 3 tours in Vietnam, he received two Bronze Stars and other medals and certifications.
Services were held Monday, July 1, 2024, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
