VIRGINIA BEACH – Catherine R. Garrett, 88, went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2014. She was born in South Norfolk to the late Luther and Gladys Casper and was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Edmond Garrett Sr. She was a retired seamstress who also worked for Virginia Beach Florist. Survivors include two daughters; Gladys Diggs and Cathy Simpson (Jimmy), and a son, Edmond Garrett Jr. (Maureen); a brother, Luther Casper (Alice), six grandchildren, Jeff Diggs, Janine Cleveland, Kimberly Walck, Laurie Garrett, Amber Batten, Jaime Rankin, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at noon Friday August 15, 2014 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Thalia United Methodist Church. Burial will follow immediately in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk. Memorial gifts may be made to Thalia United Methodist Church.
