Norfolk ~ Charles A. "Charlie" Bechstein, 61, of Norfolk, passed away Friday, June 22, 2007 in his home. Born September 13, 1944 to the late Clarence L. and Hattie E. (Boyer) Bechstein. Received his Bachelor's Degree in Ohio. Retired from the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief , served during the Persian Gulf War, and was employed at the EOD at Little Creek. Married Mary E. Minnix on August 22, 1992. Charlie was a member of the V.F.W. Post 445 in Charleston, S.C. and the American Legion in Ocean View. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two step-sons, Donald Brinn and Gary Disharoon and his wife, Marie; two daughters, Cheryl Davis and Sherry Barnes and her husband, Thomas; and seven grandchildren.Charlie was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Ernest and Dennis Bechstein. A memorial service with full naval honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Mary E.
