Danyell D. Smith

Born December 26, he grew up in Norfolk’s Norview neighborhood. Danyell was a devoted father to Sionnē D., and the cherished son of Olevia Smith and Cellie Howard. He was a loving brother to Keara Smith, Stacy, Tasha, Kentora, Derrick, Shampree, Tanteka, Jamarr, and Tiffany, and is remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Danyell was known for his contagious smile, warm kindness, quick humor, and dedication to family. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed fishing and singing karaoke in his free time. He was an employee at Cox Communications for over 20 years.

A 1995 graduate of Norview High School, Danyell loved playing football and the trombone. He was also a member of the Norfolk State University Spartan “Legion” Marching Band.

He is survived by his parents and siblings, and was predeceased by his grandmother, Carlester White, and his aunt, Precious White.

A Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia 23502.

A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Danyell will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Woodlawn Funeral Home.

A 3:00 PM Committal Service will take on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia 23502.

Immediately following the burial will be a reception in honor of Danyell inside the Magnolia Hall within Woodlawn Funeral Home.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by many.
