

Edward Lee Caldwell, a beloved resident of Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 53. Born on March 22, 1970, in Norfolk, VA, Edward's journey through life was marked by his passions, his generosity, and his deep love for family and friends.
A skilled carpenter, avid fisherman and devoted fan of NASCAR and the NY Giants, Eddie approached life with an infectious enthusiasm that touched all those around him. His willingness to give and the kindness he showed to others were qualities that defined him. He had a heart of gold, always ready to offer help and support to anyone in need.
Eddie's love for his family and friends was a cornerstone of his life. He found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones, and his granddaughter, Brooklyn K. Hamer, held a special place in his heart. Eddie's legacy is one of love and warmth, a testament to the incredible impact he had on those who were fortunate to know him.
He was predeceased by his great-grandparents, Louis and Sadie Hatch, his grandmother Lillian Koonce, his mother Cheryl Caldwell, his father Sonny Caldwell, and his brothers Jackie Lee Caldwell and Johnny Lawson Caldwell. His loyal fur companions, Lucy and Buddy, whom also crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of him.
Eddie's memory will forever be cherished by his partner and best friend of 27 years, Karen Hamer of Kill Devil Hills, NC; son Kane Hamer of Raleigh, NC; daughter Kristal Hamer of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter Brooklyn K. Hamer, whom he loved dearly; uncle John Koonce of Norfolk, VA; aunt and uncle Mary and Johnny Causer of Norfolk, VA; sister Cheryl Rogers of Norfolk, VA; sister Diane Caldwell of Norfolk, VA; brother-in-law Harold Magnuson of Norfolk, VA; nieces Holly Watson and her sons Tucker G. Ward and Deklan L. Ward of Norfolk, VA; niece Crystal Watson of New Braunfels, TX; nephew Seth Magnuson of Norfolk, VA; his second mom Denise Ballance of Richmond, VA; best friend/brother Pat and Jessica Commodore and their family of Virginia Beach, VA; and his adored fur companions Molly and Petey. All of whom he loved dearly.
Edward Lee Caldwell's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his extended family and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a testament to Eddie's giving spirit even beyond his earthly journey.
