

Ed was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on April 2, 1933. He joined the Army at 17 and transferred to the Marine Corp which he loved. He served in the Korean War. He was awarded four Bronze Stars during his tour with the Marines. In 1969, he moved his family from Massachusetts to Virginia Beach to join the police force. He served a total of 26 years with the department including a number of years as a detective. He spent much of his later years watching his beloved Boston Red Sox and New York Giants. But most of all, he loved his devoted wife of 43 years, Judy, who tirelessly cared for him throughout his illness during the past 2 &1/2 years.
Survivors include his 5 daughters: Joyce White & husband, Alexander; Gail Sketers & husband, Joel; Susan Doyle & husband, Mark; Mary Schools & husband, Gary; Judy Williams & husband, Ron. He was also survived by 8 grandchildren: Charlie & Chelsea White, James & Meghan Sketers, Rachel Price, Amy & Jordan Schools, and Natalie Williams. He had 1 great grandson, Morgan White. He is also survived by Peter and Kim Peterson, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
