Virginia Beach, VA Edward Whitaker, 91, passed away at his residence on January 24, 2012. Edward was predeceased by his first and second wives, Eva Louise Bivens Whitaker and Jeannette H. Whitaker and a daughter, Eugena Paulette Whitaker and a son, Raymond Allen Whitaker He was retired from the U. S. Navy after 22 years of service. Surviving are his two sons; James Edward Whitaker and Steven Michael Whitaker both of Virginia Beach, VA; three daughters; Edith Whitaker of Alexandria, VA; Trina Sams of Winston-Salem, NC and Pamela Wilcott of Texas; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and his long time caretaker, Flossie Watkins. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA and where funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, January 28, 2012. Honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard.
