I knew Fran most of my life as she and Howard had been good friends with my parents.  I always looked forward to seeing her because she would tell the best stories about her job (air traffic control) and other great stories. Also she always was interested to know what was happening with me, what was going on in my life, especially when I had left the area to go to college and to work. She would ask me the best questions. I felt like she cared so much about me and supported me. Her smile and laughter I’ll remember as well. I hope more people will share stories about her life.

For many years, Fran lived in our neighborhood. I wholeheartedly agree with the memories of others... she truly was witty, fun to chat with and always eager to help. 
She spent hours and hours planting and caring for her very exotic Iris! Her front yard was magical!!  Since Iris are my favorite flowers, whenever I see a rare, beautiful flower, I always think of Fran.

Fran was alway there. You’d walk into her office and as soon as she could she’d drop everything and have a conversation. No matter the reason. If it was work related she would find the info or (as happened many times) already have it. If it was a social visit she would “have a chat”, even if she was bowled over with work. I didn’t know her very well in a social atmosphere but gained much appreciation as I heard others tell of her home and family life. 
She will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest now. Your work is done. 

I adored Fran and really enjoy the times we shared back in the 80s and 90s.  Such a fun person to be around.  I remember when she went to the DeWitt Cottage in Virginia Beach when it was closing from a private residence and being converted to a museum.  She really enjoyed learning about the sisters who had lived in the home, and purchased landscape paintings for each of us that one of the sisters had painted.  We had them framed and I still have that picture hanging in my living room.  Every time I look at that painting I smile and think of her.  

So many other memories of her, and  each and every memory has her laughing and smiling.

She will really be missed.


I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Fran. 
I worked with "FM" from 1984 to 2008. We had some good times while ORF atc'n.
