George Washington Gould, 95, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 in Norfolk. George was born in Massachusetts to the late George Porter and Georgia Hewson Gould. He is also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Sarah Gould, daughter, Dottie Skaggs, four brothers, and one sister. George was most of all a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was known for his hard work ethic. At one point in his life he owned his own business, Gould’s Sharp Shop. He also sold insurance, he was in construction but most of all he was very proud of his work on the shipyard. George was a professional welder, he only put out first class work. He handled everything and nobody ever had to go behind him to verify his workmanship. George was a WWII veteran who also served in the Korean War, and the Vietnam era. He was a member of various organizations, National Rifle Association, DAV, VFW and American Legion Organizations. In his spare time, he was an avid bowler as well. He is cherished in memory by his sons, Richard Gould and his wife, Gina and Robert Gould; daughters, Gail Webb and husband, Merrell, Geraldine Ritch and husband, Roger and Marjorie Robertson; grandchildren, Sarah, Heidi, Richard, Jr., Rebecca, Taylor, Michael, Danny, Trulah and Reggie; great grandchildren, Elijah, Nicholas, Savannah, Kempton and Gavin.
