Gloria Henry Covington, 98, entered eternal rest on April 26, 2025. Gloria was born January 24,1927, in Johnston, Rhode lsland. She was a Navy wife of 49 years to her late husband Bruce Covington. She and Bruce were stationed in several states and Japan before settling in Virginia Beach.
Gloria worked for 30 years for The Department of Defense in Camp Lejeune, NC and Little Creek Amphibious Base, VA. After retirement she worked at Sisters, a fashion boutique in Kempsville, VA. She had a love for fashion. She was always dressed with such elegance and style, down to her accessories. Gloria loved ballroom dancing and danced into her 8Os. She was gifted with the patience and talent of ceramic painting and painted each one with perfection. She was the epitome of class and poise.
The true wealth of Gloria was found in her special role of being Nana to her 5 grandchildren.
She loved her family deeply and was adored by all of us. She was a generous and thoughtful person, and her kindness really made every moment spent with her a joy. Her interest and support in our lives made a positive difference to each one of us.
She was predeceased by her mother Julia Riccitelli Henry and father Pasco Henry, 3 brothers, Anthony, Walter and John Henry, and 2 sisters Rose Yost and Florine Miller.
She is survived by her younger brother Sonny Henry, her children Clyde Covington, Charlene Cerza (Tony), her 5 grandchildren, Clyde Covington Jr., Christina Dye (Timmy), Diane Carr (Dominque), Eric Cerza and Channa Bonney (Eric).
She is also survived by her 7 great grandchildren, Trajion Dye, Trevor Whirley (Nama), Dominque Carr Jr., Fiona Cerza, Eva Cerza, lsaac Bonney, Chaylene Bonney and 1 great great grandson Taiden Dye.
