Gwendolyn Faye Johnson of Norfolk, a kind and gentle women, passed away at Beth Sholom Village Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 80. She was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend to all. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Gatlin and the late Pauline Gatlin Verhaagen.
Gwendolyn is predeceased by her son James P. Johnson Jr. She is survived by her loving husband James P. Johnson Sr. Daughter Ellen J. Cutchins and her husband Tom, Grandchildren Christine, Andrew, and Emily Johnson, her sister Betsy Christmas of California, and her daughter in law, Julie Johnson of Chesapeake, VA.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Woodlawn Funeral Home (6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, US, 23502) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 11 am with Rev. Tom Chadwick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital. Personal condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
