James Curtis Breakfield, Jr. passed on May 27, 2021 from a long battle with Alzheimer’s at home with his loving wife and family. He was born on December 18, 1942 in Norfolk, Virginia, son to the late James C. and Lula B. Breakfield; he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry R. Breakfield; sister, Betty Powers; and his two sons, Billy Vaughn Breakfield and Jimmy C. Breakfield, III. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda L. Breakfield; daughters, Teresa L. Breakfield, Terry Kimmig, Beth Wilkins, Shannon Dever, and Belinda Wilson; his 22 grandchildren and 18 great greatgrandchildren.
Jim was an Army Veteran who fought in the Korean War. In 1978 he and his wife started and managed JCB Construction Co. Inc for 44 years. He was a co-founder of Wedgewood Fox Pen (Break-White Kennels) since 1992 with his partner Jay White where he raised and trained numerous fox hound champions. Jim was a member of the McAlister Lodge 185 AF&AM Masons and a Deacon of the Holland Baptist Church.
Jim lived life on his terms. He enjoyed running hounds, fishing, boating, hunting, horseback riding and four-wheeling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved and was loved. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation for the family and friends will be held at Holland Baptist Church located at 6519 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23437 on June 3rd between 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 4th at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 6329 East Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia 23502. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
