Janice Ann Nickerson, 64, passed away in her home on Saturday, April 4, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born December 20, 1950, to the late Robert Cornell and Irene Shipp. Known as “MeMe” to family and friends, she was a resident of Virginia Beach and retired from the Old Dominion University Athletic Department. Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Cornell and grandson Christopher Allen. Janice is survived by her husband, William A. Nickerson Jr.; daughters, Tammy and Nichole Nickerson; son Jason Nickerson; grandchildren, Brook Nickerson, Noah Allen and Trevor Anderson. She is also survived by her brothers, Johnny Cornell (Beverly) and Larry Cornell (Linda) and many other loving family members and friends. She was a gift in life to all that knew her. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 9, 2015 at 12 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. VA Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. The visitation is Wednesday night from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
