Jesse W. Boone

Jesse William Boone 89, went to be with the Lord on June 19th. He was born December 17, 1925 in Florence, South Carolina, and was one of four children born to the late William Boone and Margaret (Lennon) Boone. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister; Earl, Dallas Ray, and Jane Lock. Jesse is survived by four daughters; Linda J. Beck of Glenelg, MD; Margaret Shroeder-Souza of Atlanta, GA; Judy Windham of Williamsburg, VA; Kathy Sengstack of Atlanta, GA. His step-children include Ray Boetcher of Virginia Beach, VA; Larry Boetcher of Nipoma, CA; Nancy Rutledge of Yorktown, VA. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Jesse worked for the Virginian-Pilot and Ledger-Star newspapers for 39 years, and was the president of the International Typographical Union. He was also a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church of Norfolk for 35 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Khedive Shrine Transportation Fund, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Visitation will be Tues., June 23, 10-11am. The funeral service will be held Tues., June 23, 11am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
