

Born August 26, 1945, in Omaha, NE. Jimmy graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in1968 with a degree in Education with a specialty in STEM courses. He was the son of James Hugh Tippitand Leona Louise Voss. Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Margaret Bogart, his sister, Carol Diane Tippit Bremner and her husband Edward Bremner and their daughter, Jimmy’s niece, Jaimee Leanne Bremner and Grandnephew Everett Wilson.
After graduating from college, Jimmy taught high school STEM courses until joining the Air Force in 1970. After completing basic training, Jimmy was assigned to the Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training Program at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, Mississippi. He completed his pilot training in June of 1971 and was assigned to the 454th Flying Training Squadron at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. The mission was to train navigators, bombardiers, and electronic warfare officers for the Air Force. In that capacity, Jimmy piloted T-29s and T-43s(Boeing 737-200) as copilot, pilot in command, and instructor pilot.
Jimmy resigned from the Air Force in 1979 and began a long career in civil aviation, working for severalairlines during that turbulent airline period. He worked for Wien Air Alaska, People Express Airlines, Saudi Arabia Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and finally Continental Airlines from which he retired in 2005. Jimmy’s career as an airline pilot included flying to destinations in the United States, all the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Jimmy loved flying the Boeing 727 but spent the majority of his career flying different versions of the Boeing 737. Jimmy flew a total of approximately 25,000 hours before his mandatory retirement age of 60.
Since then, Jimmy and his wife, Susan, have enjoyed travel. Jimmy enjoyed golf, but most of all working with Gadgets.
In later years Jimmy enjoyed light arms competition at the local firing range. Jimmy had a lifelong fascination with stereo and home theater equipment. His home theater was second to no other.
A memorial service will be planned for this Spring.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Scouting America, Monmouth Council 705 Ginesi Dr, Morganville, NJ 07751 in memory of Jimmy.
