Obituary of Kenneth Edward Mahoney
Kenneth E. Mahoney passed away on November 9th, peacefully in his home, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born March 31, 1956 in Kenosha, Wisconsin and lived his life in Norfolk, Virginia. He served honorably in the US Navy. He then went into restaurant management, using his superb people skills. He decided to see the country and logged two million miles as a truck driver, without a single incident. Finally, he found his home at Accurate Marine Environmental. He rose to upper management before retiring to spend his time with family. He always said his greatest accomplishment was being a father and husband of 44 years. His passions were flying, sailing and exploring the country. When he retired, he and his wife hit the road in their class A RV to enjoy their retirement and each other. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley M. Mahoney. His son, John E. Mahoney. His daughter, Janet E. Mahoney. Four Grandchildren, Andrew K. Lyng-Mahoney, Aaron M. Moore, Karen M. Mahoney and Michael “Connor” Mahoney, two Great Grandchildren, Emily Moore and Kain Moore. Several “adopted” Grandchildren to include Melisa Jones and family, Teyah Sessoms, Abigail McFalls, Alyssa Palmer, Joe Palmer and Shelby Palmer. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, November 21, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to The American Cancer Society.
