Liberty Alcantara Bernales, 57, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Chesapeake, VA. Liberty was born in Sampaloc, Manilla, Philippines to Mario Alcantara and Armela Matriano Alcantara. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and devoted friend. She prioritized her life for her family and their needs. She loved reading in her spare time and was a world traveler. Liberty is cherished in memory by her loving husband of 13 years, Gerry Bernales; son, Geno Bernales; step children, Gerad and Jaron Bernales; siblings, Brenda (Luis), Myrna (Jonas), Jojo (Mitchella), Clarissa (Christopher “Blue”). She is also cherished in memory by her many nieces and nephews, Kevin, Kenneth, Gio, Sam, Alec, Aldous, Darla, Jocjoc, Carlo, Claire, close family friends and relatives, Algina and Ethie, and last but not least her German Shepherd, Arya.

There will be a visitation from 5-9pm, Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11am, Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Catholic Church of Saint Stephen, Martyr in Chesapeake, 1544 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
