Linda Louise Dail Twiddy, 81, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, went to be with her Lord on February 6, 2026. Linda was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to John and Sarah Dail. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46+ years, Douglas Randolph Twiddy, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Howerin (Scott) and her son, Douglas Twiddy, Jr. (Heather); her grandchildren, Sarah Lambourne (Will), Brian Howerin (Samantha), Tripp Twiddy (Brianna), Hannah Ragsdale (Tyler), and Allison Twiddy; along with 12 great-grandchildren.
Linda, known to many as “Grandmama” and “Great-Grandmama”, loved spending time with her family. She cherished family reunions at the beach, surrounded by immediate family as well as her extended family. Her favorite place to relax was anywhere in the sun. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for decades, where she drove the “bus” to pick up children for the pre-school, then became a teacher in the pre-school, and eventually became the church secretary. She maintained her sense of humor right up to the end. When she turned 80, she started referring to herself as an “Eighties lady.” Some favorite expressions include, “What’s next on your agenda?”, “Well, isn’t this a nice surprise!”, “Who’s that breaking into my house?” When asked if she was hungry, she would always say, “I don’t know, but I could always eat!” She was a true role model, showing us how to live with grace, kindness, showing gratitude, and keeping a sense of humor, regardless of the situation. We know she would like to thank anyone and everyone who helped care for her and loved her through all her challenges during the past couple of years.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
