

1931 – 2025 “I am truly blessed”
Louise Matula, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully June 16th, 2025, at the age of 93. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity.
Born in Knotts Island, Virginia she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John “Texas Poor Boy” Matula, her daughter Sherry Pritchard, mother Hazel Crosswhite,
father Norman Ewell, brothers NL and Bobby Ewell and sister Carol Canady.
Louise is survived by her devoted daughters, Bonnie Bertolino (Bobby) and Debbie Williams, Shelia Wynne (Billy) and Mona James, as well as a large and loving family of grandchildren Kim Pritchard, Bernie Pritchard (Colleen), Heather Shaffer (Rob), Anthony Bertolino (Cristin), Rob Bertolino (Eliza), Roy Perez, Jr., Christina Stillwell and Rob Darling and great-grandchildren Hayes and Benett Shaffer, Madison and Cooper Pritchard and Rocco and Frankie Bertolino and Jordan Stillwell who will carry her memory forward with pride and joy. Her family was her world, and she gave to them—and to everyone she met—with an open heart and a selfless spirit that never wavered.
Louise’s faith guided her through a life filled with grace and compassion. Whether she was lending a helping hand, sharing a warm smile, or offering a listening ear, she made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Pop, the love of her life, and all the family that have been waiting for her We can just imagine her beaming smile as they travel the world together once more—free, joyful, and hand-in-hand. And surely, her heart is full as she’s welcomed by Squirt, who no doubt raced to greet her.
Louise Matula lived a life of purpose and love. She gave without expectation, loved without limits, and believed in the goodness of people. She treasured each person that became part of her life. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the light she brought into this world will never fade. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
Services- June 21st 2:00 PM at Mission Church 210 S. Witchduck Road Virginia Beach
Flowers will be accepted at the church Friday June 20th from 9:00 – 3:00
