

VIRGINIA BEACH – MARY HUX KENT, 78, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a selfless giver of her love, time and resources, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on the evening of October 27, 2016, to be reunited with the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Rexford C. Kent.
A volunteer for almost 25 years at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital, a member of its Auxiliary and the Auxiliary Board for many years, she was known as the “hugging lady”. She, and her hugs, will be sorely missed.
Predeceased by her parents, J.D. “Dan” Hux and Helen Hux, brothers, Jack C. Hux, John R. “Dick” Hux, and a sister, left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Diane K. Dotson (Jack), grandchildren, Katharine Fite (Jay), and Daniel Jones, two great-grandchildren, Carleigh and Wayne, a special sister-in-law, Ann R. Fentress, as well as nieces, nephews and a slew of friends.
A funeral will be conducted on Monday, October 31, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood presiding. A reception will immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lake Taylor Hospital or the
Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.
