Obituary of Mrs. Michelina A. Cossell
Mrs. Michelina A. Cossell, of Norfolk, Virginia Michelina A. Cossell, 94, passed away March 12, 2023. Mickey was born May 17, 1928 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Michele Bove in Brooklyn, NY. In her youth, she helped her father who was a chef, at his bakery, where she helped him with wedding cakes, pastries, pizza and lemon ice. She attended an all girls catholic school and then worked as secretary in New York City. Mickey was a volunteer at St. Gregory’s thrift shop and volunteered her time picking up food items from local grocery stores for the food pantry to distribute. She also volunteered at Marion Manor Assisted Living Facility helping the staff with special events. She belonged to a dine around group and T.O.P.S. Mickey played on two bunco teams and enjoyed her times with the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Club at St. Gregory. She was very active and enjoyed bowling, aquatic exercises at the local rec center, mall walking with her friends and gardening. She loved cooking and baking and donating her baked good to fundraisers at the church. She was especially famous for her cream puffs. Mickey is predeceased by her husband James L. Cossell. She is survived by her son Lawrence Cossell and his wife Nittaya, granddaughter Sarah Rodriguez, and great granddaughter Michelina Rodriguez. A visitation will be held on Sunday March 19, 2023 at 2pm. A Catholic Mass will take place at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Monday March 20, 2023. An interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family invites everyone back to St. Gregory the Great for a reception following the interment.
