Portia F. Jones

Virginia. She had just celebrated her birthday on Friday surrounded by her friends and family.

Portia grew up in West Virginia and moved to Norfolk, VA when she was 13 years old. She met and married Ernest W Jones on March 11, 1955.

They moved to Virginia Beach in 1972.

Portia worked at the Norfolk Stock Exchange. She then went to Beauty School and was a Beautician for many years. She attended Tidewater

Community College for 2 years and was an Administrative Secretary at the Norfolk Federal Building.

She loved to travel, shopping, crafting, music, and playing cards. Her favorite trip was to Italy with Ernie where they threw coins in the "Trevi Fountain". She loved the Appalachian Mountains. When we took vacations, we always had to drive through the mountains at least one way there or back. Portia and Ernie enjoyed spending winters in Florida at The Villages. They also enjoyed going to the Theater.

She is preceded in death by her parents Richard Turner(Father); Charlette Jean Turner(Mother); Richard(Bud)Turner(Brother) and Ernest Jones(Husband).

She is survived by her Daughters: Sherry Jones (Sharon McKee) and Lisa Bay (Chris). Her Grandchildren: Jeffrey Bay, Nicholas Bay, and Samantha Bay. Her Great Grandchild: Everly Marshok. Her Sisters: Ann Lawson, Linda Beacham (J.D.), and Kathy Respass (Larry). Her Brothers: Fred Turner (Linda), Ron Turner (Ernestine), Ricky Turner, and Michael Turner (Patricia Ann). And her many Nieces and Nephews.

Portia loved being with her family at Holiday picnics and especially Christmas. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her favorite song was "Three coins in a fountain" by Frank Sinatra. She was an avid reader.

The family would like to thank Patricia Ruiz for her care of our Mom for many years. We would also like to thank the Amedisys nurses (Mike) and aide (Romona) for the care and compassion they gave to our loved one.

Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.

A private viewing for friends and family will held on Tuesday July 1, 2025 from 12:30 - 1:30. A private graveside service for friends and family starts at 2:00 pm. A reception will be held following the service at the reception hall for friends and family.
