OBITUARY
Ralph Paul Folan
6 May, 1956 – 21 October, 2011
Ralph Paul Folan, 55, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, May 6, 1956. He was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Asermely) Folan.
A loving husband and father, Ralph was a firm believer in providing and sacrificing for his family. In 1973, he joined the United State Navy, where his passion for submarines emerged. He devoted himself to the U.S. Navy and made his way through the ranks. During his time in the U.S. Navy, he developed a love of cooking, which he shared with his fellow servicemen, family and friends. After dedicating 30 years of service, as a Chief Petty Officer he retired in 2004, with an honorable discharge due to his health. As a veteran, Ralph would have proudly continued to serve his country.
He was a hard-working and dedicated man, whom anyone could depend on for guidance, support, honesty, laughter and always his love. Ralph was a giving person with a big heart that was always filled with kindness and love. One thing he loved was to teach us a lesson (or two). The biggest lesson he taught us was to love each other under any circumstances.
Ralph, a loving husband & proud father, is survived by his wife of 21 years, Glendale Folan and his children, Whitney Folan, Shamekia and husband Tasho Marsh, Joseph Pinckney and wife Keshia, Ira Pinckney and wife Nikayla. He also was the devoted brother of Ellen Mulkerrins, Edward Folan, John Folan, Carol Folan, Robert Folan, Marjorie Fortin, Darlene Folan, Kenneth Folan, Patrick Folan, Kevin Folan, and the late Francis Folan Jr., Barbara Folan, and Daniel Folan.
