Raymond W. Heim, Sr., 71, passed away October 16, 2010 in his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 24, 1939 in White Deer, Pennsylvania. Spent 8 years in the Navy which brought him to Virginia and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a well known local fisherman and lure maker, and a member of the Virginia Beach Anglers Club. He is predeceased by his mother Kathryn Koch and his wife Phyllis Heim. He is survived by his brother George Heim Jr.; sister Ardith Wilkins; daughter Peggy Sue Duke; sons Jerry Heim, Randy Heim, and Raymond Heim, Jr.; and fiancee Tamela Zimmerman who was also Mr. Heim's companion; also surviving Ray are his grandsons Matthew Duke, and Jeff Duke and wife Stephanie; and many friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Ray's life will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 11am in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Woodlawn from 6 to 8PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
