Rodney Allen Denson

Rodney Allen Denson passed on May 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on December 8, 1947, to the late Frank and Mildred Denson. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joan and daughters, Christie Cheeks and Deborah Everett.

Rodney worked as a Shop Planning Supervisor at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and retired in 2003. He had a love of sports, in particular, Hockey and Football. Both he and his wife were season ticket holders for the Norfolk Admirals for over 25 years. Besides his interest in sports, he had a passion for traveling with family and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his younger years. Rodney and his wife were active members of Kings Grant Baptist Church and participated in the Agape Bible class for over 40 years.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his sisters, Frances Burke and Susan Johnson; daughter, Sherri Armistead; grandchildren, Kayla Denson, Azya Williams, and Kaitlyn Armistead; great grandchild, Selah Williams; and host of other family and friends.

The family invites friends to a time of celebration of Rodney’s life on Saturday, July 11 at Kings Grant Baptist Church (8738 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA) starting at 11:00 am.
