Roger J Mandigo

Roger passed away January 4, 2017. The second son of Robert C. Mandigo and Annie Laurie Rogers Mandigo Broadwell, he was born in Jacksonville, FL on June 28, 1956 and lived many places as part of a Navy family until settling in Virginia Beach in 1964. He attended Kempsville schools and graduated from Kempsville HS in 1974. Roger played the tuba in the KHS Band and also enjoyed playing the piano. He was a Life Scout in Troop 362 and later became an excellent cook who hosted many tasty meals for family and friends. He enjoyed fishing. Roger was an extrovert with a big heart who never met a stranger and an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan. Roger accepted Jesus Christ as his savior many years ago and was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. He was a loving and caring son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife Debra, daughter; Tonja (Fred) Steele, grandson; Riley, mother; Annie Laurie, brothers; Bob (Cheri) and Clark, sisters-in-law; Karen (Bruno) Stock, Donna Evans, Terry (Bob) Price, niece; Lyn Langman (Michael), nephews; Rob and Christopher, and cousins in California and North Carolina.

Roger’s funeral will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. The visitation will be Monday night from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Please visit www.woodlawngroup.com to leave a message of comfort for the family.
