Verneeda Goldie Sayles

Verneeda Goldie Sayles, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach. Verneeda was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 5, 1935. Her parents are the late Arsane and Lillian Washington. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth Washington, Horace Davis and Delores Washington. Verneeda’s formal education was in business/clerical schooling in Memphis, TN. After getting married and raising her family she continued her education and attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach and majored in Medical Transcription. She worked various careers in her lifetime, she finished cosmetology school and worked for Carmine’s at Hilltop Shopping Center. She later worked in Medical Records Department with Sentara Virginia Beach General. She is cherished in memory by her family: son, Richard Sayles and his daughters, Ashley Victoria Sayles and Sylvia Elayne Sayles; son, Robert and his wife, Connie and their son, Daniel Christopher Sayles; daughter, Monica and her husband, Eric Macdonald; daughter, Shoshana and her husband, Avi Shoub and their children, Shalom Pinchas Shoub, Chaim Asher Shoub, Sara Rivka Shoub, Leah Rut Shoub, Tanchum Eliezar Shoub, Dovid Yonason Shoub and Yissichar Meir Shoub; daughter, Anita Gleason and her husband, Kevin and their son, Kyle Gleason; siblings, Climer Davis and husband, Horace, Kimberley Washington (Kenneth), Mickey Davis, Cecile Jenkins and Arsane “Boy” Washington and his wife, Judy Washington. Verneeda was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family oriented, she devoted majority of her time and energy to her family. She enjoyed donating her time and energy to various charities, specifically the March of Dimes and UNICEF. She will be missed by all.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm, Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a private visitation before the service at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 11am. Please post online condolences to the family to help them in this difficult time on the funeral home website.
