

William Linton Clouston was born November 16, 1932 to Robert Linton Clouston and Mary Frances Kuhaida Clouston in Dillonville, Ohio. He grew up in Bradley, Ohio. He was the third oldest in a family of two sisters and five brothers. His father was killed in a mining accident when he was twelve years old. He graduated from Smithfield High School in 1951. Bill went to work in Cleveland, Ohio for three years, and then joined the Air Force in 1954. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. It was there that he met his future wife Ethel Smith.
Bill was sent to France where he served for three years. He sent half his pay back home to his mother. After his discharge, he returned to Norman in 1958 and married Ethel.
They had three children, Carol, Stevie, and Robert. He went to work as a civilian at Tinker. He worked there until his job was transferred in 1973 to McClelan Air Force Base Sacramento, California. He joined the Air Force Reserve while living in Sacramento. His job was moved to Boeing after 2 ½ years, and the family spent l ½ years there, and then returned to Norman in 1977. Bill retired from Civil Service in 1985 and retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1992. He was activated during the Persian Gulf War, serving his time as SM Sergeant at Tinker,
After retirement. Bill enjoyed playing golf. He became a Marshall and later one of the bookkeepers at the Westwood Golf Course. He also took some courses, and became quite skilled at building computers, and helping his friends and family with their computer problems. He enjoyed watching OU football and basketball, as well as the Dallas Cowboys and the Thunder. For a long time he was very active in the Christian Men's Fellowship and First Christian Church where he helped get the famous bean dinner started. He was also very active in the Sooner Lion's Club where he served as the Secretor for twenty years or more.
