He was born September 3, 1947 in Norman, OK to Eunice Ilene Gregg. He served in the U.S. Army and later began working as a concrete finisher. After several years of concrete work he began a new career as an over-the-road truck driver, a career he would come to love and spend the remainder of his life doing. It is during this time on the road that he met his soul mate, a female truck driver named Marilyn White, and the two became a team on and off the road.
Billy Ray is survived by his best friend and companion, Marilyn White of New Berlin, Il; two daughters, Sara Cowan and family of Anaheim, CA, Marshalla Cowan and family of Tulare, CA; brother, Howard Hodges of Noble; nephew, Kyle Hodges and family of Blanchard; three nieces, Kim Mitchell and family of Blanchard, Teresa Fannon and family of Noble, Anita Johnson and family of Oakhurst, CA; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and many great nieces and nephews.
Billy Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Ilene and James Pollack, and sister-in –law, Verona Kay Hodges.
Graveside Services will be held at the Denver Cemetery in Norman, OK on Tuesday March 16, at 10:OO AM. Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services.
