Dennis was born in Tulsa, OK on March 20th, 1953 to Fealon and Geraldine Elam. His mother was later married to Mark Engleman who adopted Dennis and his brother John.
Dennis was a graduate from Norman High School, later attending tech school and receiving his associates degree, only 14 hours shy of earning his BA. He lived many places before making his home in Moore, OK including Davis, CA; New Orleans, LA; Bryan, TX; and Sherman, TX. It is in Sherman, TX where he met and fell in love with his wife Becky.
He met Becky at the Nazarene church in Sherman. They were married on August 15, 1975. Following their marriage, Dennis and Becky moved to Moore, OK where he eventually owned his own business, D&B Process Controls for over 30 years.
In 2015, Dennis began working for the Conservancy District in Norman, OK where he retired in March of 2021.
Dennis was an active member of Norman Community Church of the Nazarene for over 25 years. He loved serving on the praise team at church by playing his guitar. You could always find Dennis at church working on different projects and fixing just about anything.
He loved tinkering with all kinds of things; computers, cars, and house projects to name just a few. He loved nothing more than to spend time with his family.
Dennis is preceded in death by daughter Melanie, wife Becky, and his parents.
He is survived by daughter, Michelle; sons, Joshua and Jeremy; 8 grandchildren; brothers, John, Neal, and Doug; and sister, Lynn.
Funeral services will be held at Norman Community Church of the Nazarene on Friday, March 19 at 3 p.m. Dennis will be laid to rest beside the love of his life in Sherman, TX.
