“Zuzu,” as she was known, was born on October 20, 2009, in Plano, Texas. She loved video games, playing with her sisters, listening to music, watching videos on her phone, and putting her dolls in impossible situations. She loved working on projects with her father, eating her mother’s spaghetti, and her Great Dane puppy, Bean. A diehard Disney World and Disneyland fan, she was a Hufflepuff and loved Harry Potter.
Zuzu had a wonderful laugh and a wicked giggle. She appreciated good food and always inquired first thing in the morning about the dinner menu. Regardless of the culinary successes, Zuzu always insisted her mother’s cooking was her favorite. She adored her best friends Emilia Marx and Kensington Talley and was a loyal, true friend. Zuzu will be remembered as having the sweetest voice. She loved anime and manga, being home and in her room playing video games with her sisters (she would annihilate competitors in Mario Kart). Zuzu gave the best hugs and loved to snuggle but she had no hesitation in asking people to leave her room when she wanted time alone. She would chew on the side of her lip when she was trying to think through something. She had the most beautiful blue eyes with a tinge of green and was born with the most wonderful head of dark, thick hair.
Zuzu attended Rosary School in Oklahoma City and Cleveland Elementary and Whittier Middle School in Norman, where she played the French horn in the middle school sixth-grade band. She was a straight A student who loved math and science and wanted to be a NASA scientist when she grew up. Instead of studying the stars, she became one.
Zuzu is survived by parents Eric and MaryAnn Martin and sisters Kathleen and Margaret, of the home; grandparents Fred and Ginger Martin and Joy Martin; aunt Regina Martin and her partner Michael Mayne. A celebration of Zuzu’s life is planned for October 2022. The family asks that donations made in her memory go to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
