

James was a former resident of Blanchard and McAlester; He graduated from McAlester High School. James worked, and retired from, Tinker Air Force Base, where he met his beloved wife, Syble. The two were married September 9, 1960. He was also a Navy veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Hobbies he enjoyed were team roping and quail hunting. James was the former president and a lifetime member of the Norman Roundup Club. He was also a member of the Mustang and Oklahoma City Roundup Clubs, and the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clifford Blaine Polk, and Billy Joe Polk; and paternal grandparents William Isaac and Annabell Polk.
James leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Syble Polk; children, Janet Marie Walinski and husband Ted, Larry Bookout, and Debra Mauterer and husband Aaron; grandchildren: Jennii Stephens and husband Vail, Sophia Marie Mauterer, Isabella Ann Mauterer, and William James Mauterer; great grandchildren: Connor Stephens, Nathaniel Stephens, and Lexi Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews and neighbors.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00pm Thursday. Funeral ceremony will be held 2:00pm Friday at Regency Park Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73123.
