She was born on June 25, 1938 in Stroud, Ok to John and Vesta (Sanders) Peterson. She was the baby of 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
She was a graduate from Drumright High School in Drumright, OK. She also attended Beauty College where she became a hairdresser. She married Ellis Risenhoover on November 12, 1955. They had 3 children together. Their first son died at birth, they went on to have a son LaGene Risenhoover, of Noble, OK and a daughter Brenda Adams of Norman.
Jean and her husband were great servants of the Lord. The were in the ministry for over 33 years, where they pastored several Southern Baptist Churches throughout Oklahoma.
She spent her years serving as a pastor’s wife, Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, taking youth to Falls Creek Church Camp. She played the piano and organ in the church.
Jean loved to sew. Making clothes for her children and even making a wedding dress for a niece and sewing beautiful twirling outfits for her daughter.
Jean was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Always being at every ball game they were involved in.
She is survived by 1 sister Betty Hockett of Norman. She is also survived by her son LaGene Risenhoover, wife Melodi of Noble. Her daughter Brenda Adams of Norman, OK.
She has 5 grandchildren. One grandson Brandon Risenhoover and wife Melissa. She also has four granddaughters. Shannon Rainbow husband Lance Rainbow, Lauren Manry husband Stephen Manry, Madison Garrett, Logan Wiginton and husband Dallas Wiginton.
She has nine great grandchildren whom she treasured her time with. Holland Risenhoover, Berkli Risenhoover, Ezekial Risenhoover, Levi Rainbow, Andrea Manry, Lexi Rainbow, Clayton Manry, Roman Garrett, Lennon Garrett. Many friends and loved ones.
A visitation for Jean will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A committal service will occur Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Noble IOOF Cemetery, 8399 Main St, Noble, OK 73068.
