I am his daughter and i miss him very much and wish he was still here and I go to camp kesem  because he had cancer and got to know people who understand what im going through.

I had the pleasure of being a neighbor to Paul and his wonderful family, here in Fayetteville, NC.  He was always on the go but a true family man.   This was never more obvious than the day you told me you were sick, as you were between treatments but at your sons basketball game with your whole family, with a smile on your face taking in every moment.    I just told my son, Daniel, and we are deeply saddened by this news. I will miss our personable conversations and your calm demeanor.   God bless. 

Paul was my younger brother. When we were kids and we'd be on the playground at recess, sometimes the bigger kids would pick on him because he was a bit short. None of them ever did it twice. He always tried to get along with everyone, but if they wouldn't listen to reason and tried to get physical, watch out. I joined along side him once. He didn't need it but I wasn't gonna miss out on the fun. He never went overboard. I fought just enough for them to realize that he's not going to take it and they started to back off and he would back off because for him it wasn't about dominance or lack of control, it was about respect, and he got a lot of it.  Later I accidentally burned up half our neighbors pasture playing with fire. He happened to be there and I begged him to go with the story I came up with, but he told the truth when asked about it later by my dad and older brothers, because he was honest and was always striving to do the right thing. He taught me to have the courage to be honest. Later on when we were both moved out of mom and dad's house we shared an apartment. I had no idea how bills worked or anything. I was unprepared. He taught me the importance of keeping up on bills, where to go to pay them (no internet back them) and a wide variety of life skills. He taught me responsibility and a lot of important bits of knowledge on how to survive out in the world. Then he went off to war and I didn't see him for a long long time, but when he was overseas, every now and then you'd get a chat notification from him. It would be 4 in the morning for me but daytime for him and we would catch up and have a laugh.  He'd tell me his crazy war stories. His whole life was about serving others and doing the right thing. I miss him so much. We used to build snow forts together. 

I have served with Paul three times now. Once when I was a private and he was a NCO, once when we were senior NCO's together, and then finally, when he was a contractor. I regret the card he was dealt in life, but I am thankful for every day I had with Paul. Paul taught me patience, calm and an even temper. My heart goes out to his children, wife and parents. I wish we all had more time with Paul, but I am so very thankful for the time I had with him. 

I was privileged to be Paul’s second missionary companion in Montreal. We were only together a month but he was a hard worker and a great missionary. So sorry to your family for your loss.

I remember Paul as being a super sweet guy when we grew up. I would always tease him about his birthday because we were born the exact same day. I was born in the morning and he said he was at night so I would tease him that I was older. He was  a good sport about my teasing. I’m glad to know he continued to be a good guy in his life.  I was shocked to learn of his passing.  

I had the honor of serving alongside Paul, when he was part of the 112th Signal Battalion,  Ft. Bragg,  he was always happy, positive, and a wonderful person, and yes I'll never forget the "fetch". You will miss my brother in arms.  My deepest condolences to the family.  Sending prayers.  Alpha Pride!

The Luke's and the Godwins share many a memory and Paul was party to a lot of them - from church basketball to road shows to dating siblings! I think I can speak for all of the Lukes when we express love and sympathy to his family and that our prayers for comfort and love are with you all.

In 1992 I was doing my oldest son's wedding. My brother and his family came down and when Paul Michael got out of the car he looked at me and turned to his mom Sherry and asked what was wrong with Aunt Judy's hair. She asked what he meant and he said "mom her hair is burple, it's not blue and it's not purple, it's burple." The reason it was burple was because they had mixed some haircolors up and I had just had my hair done and it turned out burple. From that day forward I was known to Paul as Crazy Aunt Judy and I'm called that still today. Sadly the name fits. I will forever miss my quite little nephew that left me with that tag. I love you Paul Michael Godwin. You be there to pull me through the vail.

As many emotions are  floating around in my head and heart.  What gives me a bit of peace is that I was blessed enough to be Paul's First Sergeant.  Not only did he make my job easy, he made our lives better.  We shared a many of conversations while deployed and developed a bond.  I tried to talk him out of getting out and when I saw that he was set and his reasoning, I supported his decision.  Our last conversation was about this time last year, even through his fight he encouraged me as I was dealing with my wife's cancer.  Racheal and kids, Parents and family,

I had the pleasure of serving with Paul in Iraq. He was a good person who i enjoyed working and talking with. He was someone who always stayed positive and taught me alot of what it means to be a good person. Paul was someone who would always make me laugh. The good ones always go first. Thanks for being you Paul. 

I coached Paul in soccer for several years. Paul played soccer the way he lived his life. He was first and foremost  a team player,  he was a skilled player and was always competitive, but would always pass to the open man. He was a blessing and friend to everyone.  He was  a great  example for us all. I will love and miss you Son.

RIP My Friend. I have no words to say. God's Angels be with you.

Paul has a kind soul. I recognized this right away when I met him years ago here in Illinois.
I’m grateful I had the opportunity to see him and visit with him recently and again enjoy his unique ability to connect in a very sincere manner.

I remember visiting one time right after he got home from his church mission and said the family prayer in French. It was the coolest thing at that time to me...

Paul was such a huge part of my youth.  We all adored him and I'm thankful for those few years The Godwin family lived in Kentucky. 

I love how Paul would light up a room with his smile and just be ready to do something.  I love how he was with his children and wife.  He loved his job and did it well.  He did not want to go and fought to stay but his earthly body could not carry him.  He is at peace now.  I am so thankful to be his mommas.❤️
