

Ron was born June 19, 1947, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Ray L. and Amy (Williams) Hayes. He grew up in Cushing attending Cushing Public Schools graduating in 1965, and studied at Oklahoma State University before entering the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. On October 14, 1966, he married Earlene Morris in Gainesville, Texas. Following his discharge they moved to Tulsa where he began working for TG&Y managing stores not only in Tulsa, but also Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Wellington, Kansas, Great Bend, Kansas, and finally Valencia, California. After retiring from TG&Y, they moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for B&B Hearing Aid Service until 1999. He then began a new career with Moore Public Schools retiring in 2012 as Network Administrator. He loved volunteering at the Sam Noble Museum and this past spring was honored as the 2015 Volunteer of the Year. He enjoyed traveling and playing guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Tyler Hayes Flint.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Hayes of the home; two daughters: Trishayne Flint and husband Steve of Norman, Brayden Savage and husband Marcus of Norman; eight grandchildren: Shelby Flint, Tarryn Kahre, Kale Kahre, Nora Savage, Hailie Savage, Logan Savage, Brandon Kahre, Kristen Kahre Lubin; one sister, Connie Cooper and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A memorial has been established in his memory at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History, 2401 Chautauqua Ave, Norman, Oklahoma 73072
