

Virginia Green Johnston, 89, of Norman, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2011. Services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of First Christian Church, Norman, Oklahoma, with Reverend David Spain officiating. Burial will follow at Warren Cemetery in Norman. Visitation will be available at Primrose Funeral Service from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Virginia was born March 19, 1921 in Nodaway County, Missouri to Dale Green and Esther Swaney Green. She was raised in Pickering, Missouri, and then moved to Clearmont, Missouri where she met the love of her life, Clarence Robert Johnston. She graduated from Clearmont High School in 1939, married Clarence on August 27, 1939, and they moved to Carthage, Missouri, later that year. They were happily married for 69 years prior to his death in 2009.
Virginia was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For several years she also worked as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Killingsworth Ladies' Apparel. Her hobbies were needlework, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren. She was an active member of First Christian Church of Carthage and a member of the hospital auxiliary.
Virginia and Clarence lived in Carthage until 2002, when they moved to Norman to be close to their daughter Deloros Haws and her family. They joined First Christian Church of Norman. For the last fifteen months of her life, Virginia was a resident at Brookhaven Extensive Care, and was blessed by the love and care provided by the Brookhaven staff.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence Johnston, her parents, and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Deloros Haws and her husband Alan, granddaughter, Stacey Haws Felkner and her husband John, grandson Doug Haws and his wife Mandy, and five great-granddaughters: Katy and Beth Felkner, and Charlotte, Lanie, and Natalie Haws.
