My condolences to the McNab and Bitternose families and the many other brothers and sisters out there in Saskatchewan who are connected through this amazing man.  Ivan was one of the most charismatic men I've ever met; one of my heroes.  I remember him singing at a men's healing conference I attended in Saskatoon.  Of the hundreds of live performances I have seen, his stood alone.  The energy in that room as hundreds of men were cheering and whooping for Ivan's outstanding performance was unbelievable.  I felt honored and privileged to have had Ivan as a friend, a fellow student and the victim of many episodes of his teasing.  I will miss him.

Hugs going out to Mcnab, Bitternose families sending my most heartfelt condolences, I am sorry I could not have been there please know that your all in my thoughts and prayers, will always remember Ivan's  sing at my mothers funeral without any backup instruments he has an amazing talent and an equally amazing personality.  His stories were very uplifting, I still have my favorite that helps me thru difficult times like these... Take Care and safe travels.

My Families condolences for your loss of a special man

Ivan sang Peace in the Valley at my Uncle's funeral. I will always remember his voice filling the church and the choir members faces lightiing up. Ivan's singing always left us wanting to hear him sing another song! We give thanks for that bit of heaven he shared with us on earth. Our condolences to all his loved ones.

I have fond and loving memories of my Uncle Ivan. He always had a huge smile to greet you, with that boisterous voice to follow, and the laugh that was so contagious. 
Unfortunately I can not make it to Gordon's, so I send my love to surround the entire family during these few days as they send him off for his next journey.

Ivan was a powerful and inspiring man. As a family, we often reminisced of growing up and we always came back to the many hours that Ivan spent at our home with our dad and others; sitting around jamming before the term was invented. His powerful and yet graceful voice many years later; we would hear as he gave our father's eulogy and sang Amazing Grace as he comforted us in sending our father off to his Creator. Now, as a family we pray and with grace we will remember Ivan and his family as they send off their father & husband to the Creator!

My thoughts are with the family at this most difficult time. I have many fond memories of working with Ivan at SIFC. Ivan was generous with his wisdom, wit and respect. Ivan and I were hunting down the Kenoosee area one fall day and it was one of the best days of my life. Ivan had me in stitches with his stories, his chest stuck out with pride when he talked about his children.the Creator has a great winger today!

I I remember as a young lad watching Ivan sing while living in Prince Albert ,such a powerful voice,singing ,her name was jo-ann, sad to see your gone my friend ,but heaven has a powerful voice among its angels now,RIP my friend.

I don't remember the age I was when I first met my Uncle Ivan......but he has held a special place in my heart since that day. Although many, many miles have separated us over the years I have reviewed and cherished the memories of spending time with him on our little farm in Saskatchewan. He was a celebrity when he came to our town of Brock, Saskatchewan. He would sing, play guitar, and spread his special humour everywhere we went. And work harder than most men knew how!!!! He was so much more than that though......but I never really learned how much more until 2008 when he came to Kindersley, Saskatchewan to spend some precious hours with my Mom who was leaving this world forever. He will remain in my heart as long as I draw breath....there was a special something about this man......he has left a tremendous legacy behind him.......I pray he is resting at peace, home at last.

I love you, I miss you and I can't wait to see you again.

Dear Family of Ivan: You will not recognize who I am by my name,however, I felt Ivan was a very dear friend to myself and my entire family many years ago when I was a young girl. My maiden name was SYLVIA DEGELMAN and Ivan Played in a band with my brother Gordon and our cousins. Ivan also played guitar for myself and my sister Pat when we sang at amateur hours on the radio many years ago. We absolutely loved Ivan-- he was like a big brother to us. He was the kindest, most gentle person you could ever know. He sent a message to our family when my brother Gordon passed away in Oct.2013 and I am feeling so badly that I was not able to make contact back to him then. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.  I have always held Ivan in a very special place in my heart! With all my love and comfort to you all.

Condolence to the McNab and Bitternose families; "Ivan was a hero when first Nations needed a hero to go sing and win in 1965" these are the words from his Album, but to me is really true because he came from Gordons as a teenager I waited when he was on Bonaza to see one of our own on a show that was watched by millions. He will be sadly missed.

I will always remember Uncle Ivan as scary Mushum. My kids were afraid of him when they were small. Lots of love to the family. My heart aches that I can't be there for the funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Our deepest sympathies from Brian, me, and my kids.
